The following radio values are used on the Upstate Mesh MeshCore network
2-byte Addresses
Make sure your devices are on 1.14 or newer to prepare for 2-byte addresses. 2-byte addresses will reduce the possibility of public key collisions on the mesh.
910.52562.578To quickly set those values via commandline:
set radio 910.525,62.5,7,8
MeshCore is a multi platform system for enabling secure text based communications utilising LoRa radio hardware. MeshCore is a simple, secure, off-grid mesh communications system.
Build your own low-cost, long-range, encrypted messaging network.
You can still send messages even when WiFi, Cellular, and Starlink are down. - MeshCore
In short MeshCore is software that runs on various kinds of hardware that have integrated LoRa radios. In even simpler terms think of MeshCore like an operating system like Anroid or iOS and the LoRa hardware like an iPhone or Galaxy S phone.
When compared to Meshtastic, MeshCore is designed to have dedicated repeater infrastructure. This backbone of well placed repeaters allows for larger areas of coverage and less congestion. Within UM we have a growing network of repeaters and we're always expanding. If you have access to a high place in the region and are interested in running a repeater, reach out to us on the #meshcore-general channel in the UM discord!
There are a few kinds of MeshCore devices that serve different functions on the mesh network:
The most common devices are Companion Bluetooth/USB and Repeater. There is also the ability to configure IoT devices called sensors but we will focus on the message and communications aspects of MeshCore.
